Amedeo Claris has spent nearly three decades operating across the structural conditions that most professionals encounter separately.
Financial markets, legal architecture, capital deployment and the operational reality of building and running businesses in which the gap between a result and its absence is the difference between survival and failure. Each has formed a distinct and continuous part of his practice.
Born in Switzerland, he began in financial services at Generali, selling financial and savings products. After law school he joined Clifford Chance, working on insolvency and restructuring mandates including the collapse of one of Europe’s largest corporate groups, a multi-billion euro accounting fraud that was then Europe’s largest corporate failure. That mandate was his first sustained exposure to the structural conditions The Re-Alignment Era book interrogates.
His subsequent practice spanned complex capital transactions, cross-border institutional arrangements and the advisory work that follows when those structures fail to perform as designed. He administered a a €3.3 billion investment fund by CVC Capital Partners at a services provider later acquired by State Street, then joined one of the offshore magic circle firms, where he worked on private equity structures, investment funds, cross-border corporate finance and listing sponsor mandates, launching the firm’s UK REITs practice after the 2012 rule changes. Clients included AXA Real Estate, Santander UK, State Street, Dnata, GreenOak Properties, HCP Inc. and Harrison Street Real Estate. His observation of how power, accountability and leverage actually operate has been built from the inside.
Through his advisory and venture capital firm Sivgen, he has acted as advisor, interim executive managing director and investor across sectors. He led the post-pandemic transformation of a £70 million, 21-site restaurant group. Earlier, as managing director of a London-based sustainable food venture, he was instrumental in building the business from start-up to £23 million at 35% year-on-year, forging partnership with a broad range of stakeholders. Claris also works with investment firms and senior executives on strategic communications, including investor-facing materials, shareholder letters and public positioning.
He holds degrees in law and a master’s degree in legal practice, as well as executive education in company direction, digital transformation, governance and business strategy. Claris is a long-standing member of the UK Institute of Directors.
Alongside his business and executive career, he writes and publishes on the underlying mechanics of emerging technologies, leadership, accountability and the long-term weight of decisions. That work draws on navigating systems from within, which most people only observe from the outside.
The Re-Alignment Era is built on that accumulated evidence. Claris writes not as a theorist but as someone who has spent his career where decisions carry costs and where outcomes do not negotiate — long enough to observe and understand, with forensic precision, how effort and outcome become separated and what it takes, structurally, to restore the link.
